DeCleene Optometry

Dr. Bud DeCleene is an Indiana native. He grew up in South Bend, and upon graduation from Adams High School, attended Indiana University, Bloomington campus. He completed his undergraduate work there and continued to complete his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1991. Dr. Bud worked as an associate of Dr. CJ Wolf until he and Dr. Kate started their own practice in 1994.

Dr. Kate DeCleene is also a Hoosier from birth. She grew up in Rushville, and after graduating from Rushville Consolidated High School, she went to the West Lafayette campus of Purdue University for her undergraduate work. She continued to the School of Optomety at Indiana University, Bloomington, where she completed her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1991. Dr. Kate worked for Dr. Gary Carmichael until she and Dr. Bud began their own practice in Kokomo in 1994.

Stacy Hamilton has been with DeCleene Optometry since June of 1996. As the Office Administrator, her duties are as diverse as they are challenging. Her job at DeCleene's is to see that everything runs smoothly and everyone is on task. Stacy files all insurance claims and takes care of all the billing. She is in charge of five other employees and, if needed, she fills in for them at their positions. She handles patient questions about their insurane and billing. Stacy's job changes day to day; that keeps it interesting for her.

Nikki Frazier has been with DeCleene Optometry since March of 2002. She holds a degree in biology and physical science. She is a Board Certified optician who currently job shares with Rachel Rucker. Her duties include adjusting, dipensing, frame selections, and even difficult repairs for her many patients. Nikki also verifies all Rx's to make sure that every pair of glasses meets the office standards. Nikki works with all the frame companies. She has the privilidge of stocking the office with all the current trends and fashions.

Marita Stull has been at DeCleene Optometry since May of 2005. She is an ABO Certified optician. She does all the lens edging, lens ordering, and contact lens ordering. Marita is the Optometric Technician on Thursday, and can do most jobs in the office. She received her lab training at various labs around the state. She has been in the optical field for twenty-three years.

Rachel Rucker has been emplyed at DeCleene Optometry for two and a half years. She began working at the front desk position and ,after her maternity leave, she returned in the optician slot. She is currently studying for the ABO Certifying test which she will take in the spring. Some of Rachel's duties as optitian include adjusting, dispensing, and repairing. She helps patients select frames and writes orders for new glasses. Rachel also checks in all glasses that come in from labs to make sure that the orders meet DeCleene Optometry standards.

Stacey Eaker has been working at DeCleene Optometry since May of 2005. She has a B.S. degree in public and environmental affairs. She is the Optometric Technician. Stacey does all of the testing before Dr. Bud or Dr. Kate sees the patient. Some of the tests she conducts include auto refraction, stereo testing, NCT or glaucoma testing, visual field testing, color testing, and internal retinal photos of the eye.

Jayne Miller is the newest employee at DeCleene Optometry. She has been employed there since July of 2008. Her responsibility is managing the front desk. She greets patients and welcomes them. She is the first to answer phone calls that come in and she prepares all charts for upcoming appointments. In the near future, she will be trained to check out patients and will also be trained as an Optical Technician.
